Jacob Russell has been passionate about fly fishing for more than 15 years, spending countless days on the world-renowned waters of Lake Taneycomo in Branson, Missouri. Throughout his career, opportunities to travel across the country allowed him to explore some of America’s most scenic fisheries. From chasing trout in the mountain streams of Colorado and Idaho to casting flies in the rivers of California and Washington, and even experiencing the unique fly-fishing opportunities of Hawaii, Jacob has developed a deep appreciation for diverse waters, techniques, and the pursuit of fish in every environment. Over the years, fly fishing has become far more than a hobby—it has grown into a lifelong passion and adventure.

A significant part of Jacob’s journey has been shaped by the mentorship of Jeremy Hunt and his father, Billy Wayne. Through their shared knowledge, patient guidance, and countless hours spent on the water, they helped cultivate Jacob’s skills, deepen his appreciation for the outdoors, and strengthen his love for the sport. Their influence not only helped him become a more accomplished fly angler but also created lasting memories and lessons that continue to inspire him every time he steps into a river.

The fish are biting. The browns are arriving!

Fishing has been excellent. Mornings around 35 megawatts have produced on Mega Worms; as generation rises, switch to San Juan Worms, then look for explosive hopper takes once the new flow settles.

Fish the conditions. Catch more trout.

Mega Worms, Miracle Flies, midges, Sculpins, and dry flies are all keeping rods bent. Peak season is right around the corner—now is the time to get your trip on the books.

The patience was above and beyond walking my son in law through stuff. We caught a bunch of fish. Very knowledgeable and will definitely be back. And refer anyone I can. If you never have fly fished before and want to learn Jacob is who you need to book. The boat was comfortable and equipment was perfect.

You can tell right away that Jacob is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about it.   He was so patient and answered so many questions that I had and made me feel completely comfortable and not embarrassed to ask any questions.   Great teacher!   Looking forward to another session next time I am in the Branson area.
